Traditionally, the possession and control of real property has been the platform for sovereign nations, independent conquerors, businessmen, corporations, and individuals throughout recorded history to generate massive amounts of revenue and secure preeminent power. The control of real property brings with it certain opportunities that have, and will continue to change the course of history and the distribution of wealth and consequently the distribution of power. As far back as the beginning of recorded history the control of land offered those in power the benefit of the resources found on, in, under, or simply on the other side of the property. Property owners sought wealth in Agriculture, mining of precious metals and fossil fuels, property development, as well as the rights of access for transportation purposes, etc.
