Biloxi, Mississippi is a hot real estate area right now. Known as the Gulf Opportunity Zone, or Go Zone, this swath of land is a buyer’s market right now. As the recovery and rebuilding, post-Hurricane Katrina, charges full-speed ahead, investing in the GO Zone is a smart choice from a property values perspective.
In December 2005, President George W. Bush signed into law a bill called the Gulf Opportunity Act (or, Go Zone Act) of 2005. It serves to rebuild the Gulf Zone area by offering builders generous tax incentives to build certain business properties in the area. The Go Zone Act is a boon for investors: Investing in real estate in the Gulf Opportunity Zone encourages the Biloxi economy to grow – which, in turn, causes property values to rise and more real estate to be built.
